Drifting into Delirium

This posting from the Alpha Omega Publications really nailed it for me this morning. It reads:

"Complacent Christians are of no use to the Lord. Weighed down by sins or entangled in the affairs of the world, their effectiveness for Christ is nullified. Allowing Satan to lure them to sleep, they no longer have the passionate fire for serving Christ. Assured of salvation and wanting only enough of God to get by, they live life to please themselves rather than to serve God. In Revelation, God clearly states His feeling about lukewarm Christians: "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16).

Has complacency wrapped its ugly fingers around your heart? If you haven't felt a burden for the lost, gone to church, or even spent time in prayer and Bible study for ages, chances are good that your fire is almost out. Before "I don't care" becomes a permanent part of your spiritual vocabulary, heed God's warning and let the Holy Spirit fill you anew. "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind" (Ephesians 4:22-23)."
I think this speaks volumes to the world around us. We are drifting into delirium, unreality of who we are and what we are to be doing as followers of God. We think it's all about us. Our wants, our needs, our desires, our preferences, OUR LIFE! Our attitudes become seared with the distaste for anything that opposes our choices of what we want to have in OUR LIFE. OUR LIFE becomes our god and we no longer have God at the center of life any more. We have placed ourselves upon the throne of OUR LIFE and tell God he can have some room at the footstool.

WRONG!

God does not operate that way. We are not the dictators of OUR LIFE if we are to be named children of God, followers of Christ. Why? Because God is not satisfied with a part-time relationship. He wants a full time relationship with us. We don't know how to do that so we have got to let God have total control of OUR LIFE until he can transform us into HIS LIFE.

YOUR LIFE
Unless we are willing to give up OUR LIFE we will only have OUR LIFE to live. Nothing else! You cannot life HIS LIFE and OUR LIFE at the same time. It is always an "either/or" situation. Don't be deceived into thinking you can do anything else. You will drift into delirium and miss the turn in the road your traveling on. The turn that is marked "This way to HIS LIFE". It is the turn to reality and it will save you from falling off the cliff at the end of the path you are now traveling called YOUR LIFE.
